  • The Guardian: A Semantic Network Graph on Lebanon
This project is the result of a 3-day instenive workshop on digital methods and data visulaization given by the Density Design Lab (Milan) and the Sciences Po-Médialab (Paris).

During the workshop, we explored all the articles related to Lebanon published by The Guardian from 2005 to 2012 (4,634 articles in total), to understand how Lebanon is perceived abroad: who are the main actors, relations and most relevant topics.
The aim of the workshop was to unveil unexpected stories by extracting meaning from big digital datasets by creating different visualizations.

  • Visualizing Consumer Behaviour & Online Media
This project was conceived in response to The Economist-Nielsen data visualization contest. An open-ended brief to create a visualization based on data Nielsen’s Global Consumer Confidence Survey and Global AdView Pulse Report. The main purpose was to analyze the data, find patterns and represent it in a way that would be clear to a viewer who is unfamiliar with the subject.

We represented the data through a parallax webpage that walks the viewer through the different steps of the data. The viewer is then redirected to an interactive map with specific data by country.

  • Dobrag
As members of the Lebanese community, we are well aware of the waste problem in Lebanon and specifically in Beirut. Having conducted extensive research and field work, we realized that plastic bags are a big issue in our city. Not only are they used in over-abundance and needlessly, they are also not recyclable and end up in landfills polluting the earth and air.
Dobrag means plastic bag in Armenian. It was first created to function as a system uniting members of the Lebanese-Armenian community, artisans and designers to make sustainable products through upcycling
    and co-creation.

  • Naqoura Eco Village
Naqoura is a village in the South of Lebanon renowned for its extremely blue sea and fishermen. In the framework of sustainable development, the eco village hopes to transform Naqoura into a pilot ecological village in order to become a model for the Middle East and the oriental Mediterranean basin. This would be implemented in 4 different steps:
    _Water and waste treatment
    _Electricity and renewable energies
    _Reduction of pesticides and reforestation
    _Education and awareness

  • Collecting Communication: Communicating Collection
This publication was the product of my final year project for my Bachelor's degree at the American University of Beirut in 2009. It was preceded by a thesis paper about the significance of contemporary collecting.

The nature of storing information and mementos has changed drastically with the advent of quasi unlimited virtual space. This book deals with the overwhelming accumulation of correspondences in a digital age. Its goal is to make sense of my huge collection of letters, text messages, Facebook messages, emails, and chats by organizing them and finding new ways of visually representing the data at hand. This led to surprising relations between people in my life, the way I communicate with them and and how I archive this communication.

  • Byblos
BYBLOS is the Greek name of the Phoenician city Jbeil, founded around 5000 BC. Today it is believed to be the oldest continuously-inhabited city in the world.

This showcases the brand creation for Byblos, a restaurant in Canada that offers authentic Lebanese food & an authentic Lebanese atmosphere to go with it. The client brief was to bring a nostalgic taste of Lebanon to Canadian customers while subtly informing them about the Lebanese culture. The concept we developed was that of a fictional Lebanese person sending letters & postcards to a fictional Canadian person. We also integrated elements of Phoenician mythology.
